Operation Home (Maryland) organizes events to greet military personnel as they return from service abroad. About 175 Navy medical personnel who have been stationed in Kuwait for more than six months will arrive between 12:45 and 2:45 p.m. New Market resident Jolene Bower attended a similar event a few weeks ago and brought her 9-year-old daughter, Rachel. "You could just see the look of surprise on their faces when they see the people applauding them with Thank You signs," Bower said. She said it's important to show the troops Americans are thankful. Attendees are encouraged to dress patriotically and bring donations of prepackaged snacks and cards to give to the troops. -- Meg Bernhardt · Returning Troops receive Heroes Welcome, The Journal, August 2, 2007 · Marylanders Welcome Troops Home at BWI, July 30, 2007 · ...Another Just Over, Maryland Gazette, May 23, 2007 · (more to come) |
